Sacro-Occipital Technique ®

Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) was developed by Dr. DeJarnett, a chiropractor and mechanical engineer who devised a technique involving mechanical blocks used to treat both ends of the spine -- from the occiput (back of the skull) to the sacrum (last major bone of the spinal column) to help correct pelvis and spinal dysfunction. (De Jarnette MB. Sacro Occipital Technique 1984. Nebraska City7 Major Bertrand De Jarnette; 1984. p. 24- 32)
Category blocking is a mechanical approach to reducing pelvic muscular and osseous distortions. It is based on the theory that sacroiliac ligament dysfunction results in decreased ability of the subject to bear weight in a balanced fashion. It entails the placement of wedge-shaped blocks underneath the pelvis of the supine subject. Another effect of category blocking may be the reduction of stresses through the sacroiliac ligaments, especially the interosseous and posterior ligaments.

“Working as a chiropractor is an extremely satisfying job. I help people get out of pain quickly and naturally without the use of drugs. I’ve seen so many positive results from chiropractic, and I’m passionate about using my skills and knowledge to give patients the results they’re looking for. I’m also here to educate patients about how to maintain a healthy spine and nervous system, and how simple it can be to prevent disease and recurrent injury.”
