HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnotherapy is a psychotherapeutic treatment, which utilises hypnosis as a complement to medical, psychological and psychiatric treatment. It is an altered state of consciousness into which individuals allow themselves to enter so that the therapist may give beneficial suggestions, break habits and alter behaviour to accelerate the treatment process.

Hypnotherapy can very much reduce the negative impact that chronic pain can have on a child’s or adult’s life. It alleviates feelings of anxiety, sadness, anger, frustration and fear.

Hypnotherapy targets the person’s negative thoughts and feelings related to pain and teaches patients effective self-management techniques, such as progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, glove anaesthesia, ego boosting and self-hypnosis which increase the sense of control over the pain process.

Hypnotherapy increases the patient’s own coping skills and creates self-reliance through the practice of effective hypnotherapeutic pain control techniques and general confidence boosting therapy.

Apart from pain management, hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of health issues, including:

  • Stress Management
  • Anxiety and Panic Attacks
  • Unwanted Habits
  • Lack of Confidence
  • Sleeping Problems
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Weight Management
  • Backpain
  • Stop Smoking
  • Pregnancy and Labour (Shortens Labour, Greatly reduces the liability to pain, Minimizes maternal exhaustion, Promotes speedier recovery after delivery, Increases mother’s and baby’s well-being)
  • Cancer (Hypnosis can counteract the side effects of chemo and radio therapy, help reduce the anxiety and fear associated with life threatening disease, improve sleep, install feelings of self-esteem and confidence and reduce the pain sensation).
